Hi everyone and welcome to the Fit Dad Over 40 website. My name is James and I have had a passion about fitness and weightlifting since I was 14yrs old. I am a 48 yr old dad who has the burning desire to get fit.
As a Registered Nurse, I see so many people much younger than I, but very sick, and many times it is because they don’t control their diet and don’t exercise at all.
I want to help all guys over 40 with tips, helps, and instruction on losing weight, gaining muscle, and preventing injuries.
As a younger kid, I was skinny and it was extremely hard to gain muscle. Consequently, I got bullied a lot. That was the motivation that got me started in weightlifting. I was not a gifted athlete and didn’t play any High School sports. As I got into College, I was able to easily put on muscle, all the way up until 40 yrs old.
EVERYTHING GETS HARDER AS YOU GET OLDER
I have gone on many diets, and had my ups and downs with my body weight. I have purchased many supplements, seen weight loss doctors, gotten injections, took prescriptions, and dealt with some injuries.
One thing is for sure. After I turned 40yrs old, everything got harder. Over the years I have learned a thing or two about gaining muscle, dieting, and losing weight. This website will be focused and helping the older guy continue to gain muscle, lose fat, and successfully eat to achieve this.
CONSISTENCY AND HARD WORK DO PAY OFF
One thing is for sure, if you persist in consistency, both with diet and a frequent lifting schedule, you will succeed. Unfortunately there are no shortcuts. Don’t waste your time and money with fad diets and supplements that do not work. I will show you what has worked and what has not worked for me when it comes to losing weight and dieting. That is the hardest part, but achievable. Some things you need to stay away from, especially for older guys.
